| The different Baumüller
drive controllers have been successfully operating
with a wide range of field bus systems for years.
Baumüller drive technology supports the six
most popular field bus systems.
 |
Many different
bus systems have established themselves
in the field of industrial communication.
In order to provide our customers with maximum
flexibility we implement solutions that
meet the requirements of all the most popular
systems.
Baumüller drive technology supports
the six most popular field bus systems EtherCAT®,
Sercos®, Ethernet, CANopen, CANsync
and Profibus®.

The bus systems

Ethernet |
EtherCAT®
The latest Ethernet technology from Baumüller
is a prerequisite for highly synchronous
and precise manufacturing processes with
maximum quality. For the first time, Baumüller
is providing an economical combination of
drive bus, field bus and different interfaces
in the automation architecture.
EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based, real-time,
synchronous field bus system with excellent
performance capability. Software profiles
based upon existing standards are implemented,
based upon the EtherCAT connection.
It couldn’t be easier for users to
switch to Baumüller‘s new field
bus technology: From the user’s point
of view the drive and automation profile
structures are almost identical, and the
application programs are unchanged.

SERCOS®
b maXX with the SERCOS option card is already
being used in many applications, particularly
if there is a requirement for proper real-time
processing. The phase run-up, that is defined
in the SERCOS interface specification, is
fully supported by the option card.
The software operates using preferential
telegrams 3 and 4. If the higher-order controller
only supports telegram 7, preferential telegrams
3 and 4 are emulated in the slave.

CANopen
/ CANsync
CANopen uses so-called soft synchronization
using high-priority messages. CANsync, on
the other hand, uses hard synchronization.
This is carried out using an additional
pulse line for the synchronizing signal.
Jitter of ± 1 µs is achieved
in the synchronizing cycle using this method.
CANsync ensures that all setpoints are taken
over and processed at the same time, irrespective
of the number of subscribers. The drive
reactions are therefore synchronized over
the entire network. The actual value messages
from the slaves can be exactly assigned
to the time of origin in the same way. This
synchronization makes it possible to increase
the accuracy and dynamics of the machine
significantly in comparison to conventional
technology.

PROFIBUS DP®
The PROFIBUS DP option card connects b maXX
to a PROFIBUS network as a slave. Up to
eight cyclic setpoints and actual values
can be transmitted. Free access is provided
to any drive parameters for operating and
monitoring purposes. |
